City and court routes
Use the city agency for an agency-created city record, then the receiving facility's roster only where custody is actually possible. For a court outcome, use the appropriate court rather than a jail or police request channel.
- Yakima Police Department: 200 S Third Street, Yakima, WA 98901; nonemergency 509-575-6200; Records Bureau 509-575-6220. City public-record requests route through YPD Online Services and the City Clerk.
- Sunnyside Police and Jail: Law & Justice Center, 401 Homer Street, Sunnyside, WA 98944; police 509-837-2120; records 509-836-6213. The city has a current jail roster, but some cases can enter county custody.
- Grandview Police: 207 W Second Street, Grandview, WA 98930; 509-882-9200. The policy identifies a police-records route at 509-882-9223. Grandview has no in-house jail.
- Yakima County court records: District Court record request, the court clerk, Washington Courts Name and Case Search, or Odyssey where applicable.
Which official system to use
For a current county custody check, begin at the official Inmate Lookup. For a Sheriff report, use the Sheriff's records route. For booking-photo access, read the county Jail Records policy first because booking photos are described as confidential or exempt. For a state-prison custody question, use WA DOC's incarcerated search. BOP and ICE have separate federal locators for their defined populations.
The home guide explains the custody-state distinctions, official roster limits, court follow-up, and records-request sequence. Charges are accusations, and the court record is the source for a later disposition.
